The Role

Working within the college libraries (The Exchange and Blackburn University Centre Library) you will create a welcoming, positive experience for customers and assist students and staff in making full use of the resources available, whilst embracing the latest technologies to enhance their learning experience. You will work with a wide range of individuals and be able to respond to individual needs, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will also liaise with the Digital Resource Lead to plan and deliver a program of activities for students and staff on a range of learning topics. The role will require close liaison with teaching staff across the college to develop a responsive service which enhances and supports curriculum needs.

What are we looking for?

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential to enable you to develop professional links with a wide range of individuals, at a variety of levels. Knowledge of using and exploiting a range of online resources (databases, e-journals, e-book, websites and portals to help with online research.

Experience in the use of a range of IT packages and systems and working in a customer focused environment is essential. You will also have a minimum level 2 or equivalent qualification in literacy and numeracy and a customer service or administrative qualification at Level 2 or above or willing to work towards within two years of appointment.
